A Growth Mindset is the ability to see opportunities in situations. People with a growth mindset want to learn by gaining new experiences.
Someone with a growth mindset sees challenges as an opportunity to learn. They feel comfortable and stay in a learning zone without immediately panicking. They realize that effort is needed to grow and are therefore prepared to make this investment. They then request support and feedback from others, actively listening. By this we mean listening to understand and not listening to respond.
People with a fixed mindset respond with resistance to feedback. They tend to give up when they get frustrated. These people continue to hold on to their own idea, and have the conviction “I can do it or I can’t do it”.
A “Get Better” mentality is part of a growth mindset. Then you learn from models, you always perform better and you compare yourself not with others, but with your own performance. If you have a fixed mindset, you have a “Be Good” mentality. Then you mainly compare yourself with others and being better than them.
However, if you want to be successful in a sustainable way, be inspired by the success of others!
