“One immediately contradicts the other. It is the perversion of knowledge or expertise. ”
Marcus Buckingham (Nine Lies about Work – along with Ashley Goodall) writes in his 4th lie, “Well-rounded people are the best.” I agree with this, but with a side note.
It’s obvious that the complexity of our world is growing. That is why we need cooperative and open-minded experts who create situations in a clear way that allow to evolve in this VUCA world (Volatile, Uncertain, Corona -my contribution-, Ambiguity). Our world has become an ubiquitous paradox. This leads to dilemmas where experts often disagree.
Reconciling dilemmas takes effort.
It requires that you question your own ideas, respect the ideas of others, and reconcile both. To get to this point, the world needs actively listening, empathetic people. People who embrace an outward mindset and deliver clear and comprehensible, consistent messages.
Clarity is the result of thinking before acting:
“Will my message confuse people? Or will it support people in the quality of their life?” Leadership is about creating clarity: ego-less specialists who are aware of the impact of what they say. The basis is respect.
When we care about the well-being and motivation of our people, it is imperative that specialists and leaders communicate with unity and clarity. It increases the happiness and personal development of people and therefore has the highest priority.
